What’s New With Google Social SearchBy Marlene Gavens, Social Media Maven at We Do Social Media Marketing For You
Google Social Search (which was first introduced in 2009) has some new features.
You may have already seen Google’s Social Search in action if you’ve done a Google search and along with the factual information provided in the search results, you also saw relevant content from members of your social circle. Today Google takes that one step further.
The new features are important because they change the way results of a search show up. If your previous strategy was directed towards ranking in the top position for specific keywords, you’ll want to re-examine that. Now, with Google’s personalized search and social search, people will see a different page of search results based not only on keywords but weighted according to their search history, their location & their connections on social networking sites.
What does this mean for your business?
It means that social media must become an even more important part of your marketing strategy. Google is providing its users with search results based on the reach of your business network. The number of connections your business has will have an effect on how you show up in Google’s search results.
